Digital Scrapbooking: Get Started for the New Year!
Where to start with digital scrapbooking might be answered by “where do you want to go?” Strange response perhaps, but it will surely help you to know why you want to do digital scrapbooking in the first place.
The reasons for scrapbooking are numerous. There isn’t a “good” reason or a “bad” one. Each person has their own reason.
Depending on your life situation, you might want to record the life of your newborn child or grandchild. You may want to enjoy the memories brought back by all those dusty old photos. You might want to document a specific journey in your life, capture and share a photo of a butterfly. You might want to find a way to share anecdotes and stories with relatives. It is up to you to decide. You are free to "scrap" for several reasons at once, in one project or through several projects.

Do you have printed photos already? Your first task might be to get them out, and sort them.
The simplest way to sort photos is chronologically. Can you do that? Do you have photos dating back 10 years, or 5 decades? Split that period in 10 to 15 “intervals”. You can make a pile for before 1940 (assuming you don’t have that many in that period), then 1940-1950, 1950-1960, and so on. Get those photos into those piles.
Once you are done, store them back - but this time, either in individual envelopes, small boxes, or whatever container you have on hand. And then, sit down and relax. You have just taken the first step into memory lane, en route to another adventure!
We'll go into more detail and share this journey into scrapbooking as we move forward in this series.
Happy Scrapbooking!
