Cassel's Bio

Cassel digital scrapbooking made easy

In addition to my passion for digital scrapbooking, I am a full-time speech language pathologist.

I spent 15 years working in the clinical environment until  2002, when I participated in a pilot project to develop programs within the community instead of just within hospital settings. The program has since expanded throughout the whole province, and I have had the opportunity to develop many sub-programs to suit the needs of families and community partners.

As part of my work, I made a digital-scrapbooking "baby book” to teach parents about early language stimulation for their children. That book was published, and it is still distributed for free throughout our province.

As part of my SLP training, I’ve received specialized instruction in teaching adults. My attention to details also allowed me to become an official for rhythmic gymnastics for 5 years.

My other interest is shotokan karate (non-contact style), which I have practiced since 1998. I earned my black belt in 2007!

Many years ago my mom was using a program called Paintshop Pro 7 and she gave me the CD. At first I didn't know what to do with it, but then I found a basic course online to help. After learning the basics of how to use it, I was invited to make signatures for the members of a group to which I belonged, and that gave me an opportunity to apply what I had learned. From there, my interest in this intriguing art and science grew into a passion.

Later on, Paintshop Pro became my favorite program for digital scrapbooking. This was still a fairly new hobby, and certainly a new way to use a digital medium. I explored the program non-stop and started looking for ways to digitally recreate various things; I learned how to simulate various textures, and make things such as elastic, paperclips, and torn edges. Eventually, through sharing this interest as the leader of a Yahoo group, my skills advanced and I began teaching on a weekly basis. I created tutorials for members over a period of several years, teaching over a hundred members how to create scrapbook pages and create their own elements. I wrote hundreds of tutorials for digital scrapbooking using Paintshop Pro.

With the advancement of technology, I started recording a complete how-to course for anyone interested in digital scrapbooking with Paintshop Pro. I offer video tutorials for various levels of Paintshop Pro users, from the beginners to the more advanced.

From User to Creator

Digital Scrapbook TechniquesOver time I became quite proficient in creating useful and unique tools for the digital scrapbooking adepts and other types of graphic artists. Some tools can help create ribbons and bows, and other can turn photos into a postage stamp, a puzzle, a shattered window - and so much more (those scripts are specifically designed for use with Paintshop Pro). Other elements I developed were “tubes,” which are very particular types of pictures you can "draw" with. For example, one tube allows you to create a rope or a gold chain. In my personal store (http://creationcassel.com/store), I now offer many scripts and supplies for Paintshop Pro, plus special fonts used by digital scrapbookers around the world.
